Top 50 Children's Books

Here is the list:

Top 50 Children's Books

Needless to say, I am ecstatic that The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe came up first place!!! Although my favorite installment of The Chronicles of Narnia would be Book III: The Horse and His Boy.

Plus Matilda came up in 13th place. Roald Dahl is my favorite author- and several of his books got on the list, which is fantastic.

Other favorites that made the list include: Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, and Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales.

Did I tell you that I have read The Little Prince in three languages- Spanish, then English, and then French. If I find it in German, I will read it as well.

You are never too old to enjoy these classic books.

Two birds with one stone

I was purposely delaying the RSS Feeds and Online Personalization lessons. Why? Because I had absolutely no experience with them.

However, earlier this week I stumbled upon iGoogle while at ERI. And I saw just how simple it was to pick and choose the content you wanted. Not to mention how many fun and informative tools there were. Among the features I chose were- Phase of the Moon, Weather, and How of the Day. I even have a couple search tools- Dictionary and Wikipedia.

Plus I also have two different news providers in my iGoogle page- Top Stories and CNN.com. But those are not the only feeds I have on my page.

Before reading the Library 2.0 blog, I did not even know about RSS feeds. But Google Reader provided an easy way to subscribe to your favorite blogs. First was our system's own Teen Blog- which I write for often. Various people had mentioned Annoyed Librarian- and since I am always curious about what's going on in the library world, I decided to add it. Finally I also added a blog from one of my fandoms- The Fifth Turtle.

I did not think it would be so simple and quick to personalize my own Google and subscribe through an RSS feed- let alone so much fun.

Saturday program

This upcoming Saturday the 23rd of February, I will be conducting a Bilingual Storytime program right here at John F. Germany. This month's edition of Stories y Cuentos is titled "The World/El Mundo" and will feature stories about places and locations all over our beautiful planet. Learn the words for river, mountain, world, sea, and more! Plus you'll get to create a 3D island map that you can see and touch.

So this Saturday the 23rd at 2 PM join me for Stories y Cuentos! Bring your children, nieces and nephews, neighbors, young cousins, and their friends too!

Reviews and tags

I know I have posted reviews of items or movies before. I often review anime and manga for anime message boards such as AnimeNation. Didn't remember whether I had reviewed anything for Amazon before, so I did just now. And of course, it was for one of my two favorite manga in the whole wide world- Magic Knight Rayearth. It even gave me the option of tagging- which I had done in the Teen Blog and for my pics in Facebook, but never in a review.
